While Bush used bombs,Obama will use 'Smart Power'

As George W Bush leaves office - Barack Obama and his team have been busily preparing to take power in America. Not satisfied with the effectiveness of Bush's murderous blood letting of Muslims, that included the industrialised slaughter of more than a million Muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan. Obama and his team have been devising more effective ways to tackle Islam and Muslims. The approach taken by Bush in his "war against terror" is considered a failure by the new US administration.

In an address to the US Senate Hilary Clinton the new US Secretary of State said, "We must use what has been called smart power - the full range of tools at our disposal. With smart power, diplomacy will be the vanguard of foreign policy."

In the New York Times it was reported that Hilary Clinton described smart power as, "It means using all the levers of influence - diplomatic, economic, military, legal, political and cultural - to get what you want."

The US will try to repair the damage done to its reputation and the effectiveness of its foreign policy by employing new tactics. Muslims today are aware that the US is a colonialist power and its foreign policy objectives will never change. The British and other colonialist nations before them employed the same change in tactics when military power and killing failed. British foreign Secretary David Milliband said whilst on trip to India that the West "could not kill [their] way out of the problems of insurgency and civil strife" and suggested that the West needs to use more than military means.

This shift in tactics from military colonialism to political, cultural and economic colonialism is nothing new to the US and her colonialist cronies. They still aim to exploit weaker nations for the benefit of their corporations and the capitalists behind them. They have a long history of using agent rulers and corrupting the politics of the Muslim world. Culturally, the West has used the media to carry its viewpoint about life and has exported its ideas to the Muslim world. Economically, even the rich Gulf States are tied to the dollar and the international financial institutions that allow the West to exert its influence over them. The US knows that she can never subdue the Muslim World by military means alone and therefore seeks to use all the means at disposal.

The reason why the West can try to continue to exploit the Muslim Ummah is because the rulers of the Muslim countries allow them to do so. They could quite easily expose the plans of the Kuffar against the Muslims and thwart them. This is regardless of the US using military power or "Smart Power". The rulers in the Muslim lands fail to do their duty.

It is only the leadership of the Khilafah state that will allow the liberation of the lands of the Muslims from military, political, cultural and economic chains imposed upon her by the West and its agents. Indeed the Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم told us that the Khaleefah is the shield of the Ummah - a shield that has been removed resulting in the blows being dealt to the Ummah. Whilst these rulers are in place, the West will continue to exploit the Muslims - the terms may change from "shock and awe" to "smart power". One thing that remains constant is the treachery of the rulers of the Muslims.

It is narrated on the authority of Abu Sa'id that the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم said: "On the Day of Judgment there will be a flag for every person guilty of treachery. It will be raised in proportion to the extent of his guilt; and there is no guilt of treachery more serious than the one committed by the ruler of men." [Sahih Muslim]

A letter from Gaza

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

My dear sisters and brothers I wanted to take this opportunity to send you a message from the sisters and brothers in Gaza. Please hear our situation and tell everyone that you know and don't know.

When the Zionists attacked us on 27th December 2008, they not only attacked Hamas, they not only attacked the Muslims of Gaza, they attacked Muslims everywhere. They attacked Islam in the hope that they will weaken it and ultimately destroy it and ummah of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم.

And they will never stop here. They want the beloved Al Aqsa, they want the West Bank and believe me when I tell you that they want the whole of the Middle East.

But they will never succeed. They will never remove the light of Allah inshAllah.

Our situation is dire but our iman is strong Alhamdulillah, even though we have no water to speak of, and when we do, it is polluted and diseased. We have no money to buy mineral water. When we find the money those that sell it say that it is too dangerous for them to travel out to get new supplies. We have no gas, and have not had for the last four months. We cook the little food we have on real fires that we have learned to prepare.

Our men have lost all of their jobs. They spend their days at home now. My husband can spend a day just going from place to place just for the basic need of water. He usually returns empty handed. There are no schools, no banks from which we can withdraw our money. Few hospitals are open for our wounded. You are constantly aware that you risk your life when you go out and when you are indoors. They give us a curfew between 1-4pm. We can go out, they say, in safety to get your supplies, but that is a lie. They have often used that opportunity to add more shuhadaa to their list.

We eat one day rice and one day bread. Meat and milk are a luxury. They are using chemical warfare in the areas which are on the borders. They are killing us by bullets and tanks and B52s, but they are also killing us slowly by starving our children, inflicting indescribable diseases with their chemical warfare and laughing as our suffering becomes prolonged and unbearable.

All this and we are being told that people demonstrate all over the world. MashAllah the fact that you go to embassies and leave your homes makes us feel truly that we are not alone in our struggle.

But you go home at night and lock your door. We cannot do that. I have to leave my home on the second floor every night and stay with my sister on the ground floor. Should there be an attack, it's quicker to leave from the ground floor.

But the ummah is asking where are the Muslim armies? Where is the victory? And where is our true leader who will save us from this death? Where are the armies of Salahadeen Ayubi? Do not look to the UN, they recognised Israel in 1949 as a state and sealed our fate as it is today. Do not turn to America or Britain, did they not invade our ummah in Iraq and Afghanistan. Call the armies in Egypt, in Syria, in Turkey, in Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan. In Bangladesh, in the Gulf, in Indonesia and in Libya where are they? Are they content to watch women scream for their help as they bury their young children? Are the screams of their sisters and brothers falling on deaf ears? We have a right to eat and drink in safety and security. We have a right to laugh and live in hope, do we not?

Yes we are tired. When we hear rockets and bombs and see planes that fly too close to our building, I scream with my young son and my husband feels helpless. The brothers will know what it must be like to feel helpless to protect the honour and lives of your family. It kills something of him inside. We often wonder when will they sell our land cheaply, will it take one thousand or two thousand deaths. We wait to see. The Israelis have started to plan where their settlements will be in Gaza. This is what we have become.

In all this there is no one but Allah سبحانه وتعالى that can save us. Don't forget us because you are all that we have now. Your sadaqaat is not reaching us, and when they open borders it only reaches a few who can do nothing with it because we risk our lives just to buy food. They will kill anyone, anyone even if he is a five year old child carrying food for his family. We want to live from the sweat of our men, not from the sweat of others because we are dying.

Keep up the work of Allah and pray and work for the victory that will come soon and rescue our ummah everywhere inshAllah.

May Allah سبحانه وتعالى make us steadfast in our deen, during struggle and during ease. Ya Allah bring us the victory soon and re-establish Islam as the authority by which we live, Ya Allah send us the sons of Salahudeen, the army of Islam to rescue Mohammed's صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم ummah from the oppression under which we live. Ya Allah protect our children and remove the zionists from our land. Ya Allah witness today that we account our rulers, we pray that you return our true leader the Khaleefah soon. Ameen.

QuNuT An NaZilah FoR all siSteRs AnD bRoThErS iN GaZa

We should recite Qunut An-Nazilah. This is the kind of special prayer recommended in time of calamities and tragedies. As a community we must close our ranks and pray from our hearts for the brothers and sisters who are suffering most terribly; it is our duty to pray to Allah to grant them victory and relief. Qunut An-Nazilah can be recited both individually and collectively. While reciting it collectively, it is best that we choose to read it during Fajr, `Isha' and Jumu`ah Prayers. There are two valid ways of reciting Qunut; it must be done in the last rak`ah, either before going to ruku` after finishing the recitation or after rising from ruku` and saying ‘rabbanaa laka al-hamdu’, and prior to going to prostration; both are perfectly valid options.

Here is a sample of Qunut An-Nazilah in transliteration:
“Allaahumma innaa nasta`eenubika wa nastaghfiruka

Wa nu’minu bika wa nuthnee `alayka

Wa nakfuru wa naturuku man yafjuruka

Allaahumma iyyaaka na`budu walaka nusallee wa nasjudu

Wa ilayka nas`aa wa nahfidu

Narjoo rahmataka wa nakshaa `adhaabaka

Inna `adhaabaka al-jidda bi al-kuffaari mulhiq

Allahumma `alayka bi as-ssahaayinah al-mu`tadeena al-mujrimeena

Alladheena istabaahoo al-hurumaati wa qataloo wa sharradoo al-mustadh`afeen fee Filasteen,

Allaahuma innahum laa yu`jizoonaka

Allaahumma rabba al-mustadh`afeen

Unsur al-mustadh`afeen (three times)

Allaahumma arinaa feehim `ajaa’iba qudratika
Allaahumma ij`al tadbeerahum tadmeeran alayhim

Wa ij`al jundahum jundan `alayhim

“O Allah, We seek Your help; we beseech Your forgiveness.

We affirm our faith in You; we praise You.

We reject and abandon everyone who forsakes You.

O Allah, You alone do we worship; unto You alone we pray, and before You alone we prostrate in worship.

Unto You alone we strive and implore.

We cherish hope in Your mercy; we fear Your chastisement.

Most certainly, Your stern punishment will overtake those who reject the truth.

O Allah, we ask Your help against the aggressive Zionists who have committed crimes (against the oppressed), who have violated the sanctities, and killed, and dispersed the oppressed in Palestine.

O Allah, they cannot overwhelm You.

O Allah, You who are the Lord of the oppressed,
Help the oppressed (against their oppressors).

O Allah, show us Your miraculous powers in dealing with them (i.e. the aggressors).

O Allah, make their plans a plan for their destruction.

Make their armies a source of their own defeat.

Make their prison a prison for them.

O Allah, help the oppressed against the oppressors in all parts of the world.

O Allah, have mercy on the Ummah of Muhammad.

O Allah, bring relief to the Ummah of Muhammad.

O Allah, You are the twister of hearts, make our feet steadfast on the path of truth.

O Allah, make us all guides unto truth and make us rightly guided.

O Allah, bless and send peace on Your Prophet and Messenger Muhammad and his entire family and Companions.

the conflict between democratic system and the ruling system in islam

The democratic system conflicts with the islamic system in the fundamentals as well as the brenches.It is not a proper to equate both systems if there exist some similarities between them.Since democracy is kufr and islam is belief.The term 'democracy' of any of its meanings was not used by the islamic state that continued in its implementation of islam for thirteen centuries.

In the absence of the system of islam,people started seeing a democratic system as opposed to dictatorship and military systems.Naturally,people choose the democratic system over the oppressing ones;while all of them are systems of kufr.When we say no to democracy,we don't mean to say yes to oppressive,dictatorial systems.Rather,we mean the islamic system which is mercy to mankind,revealed from the most merciful the most compassionate,Allah SWT.However,if certain processes in the islamic system,such as the election of the khalifah thereby giving him the bay'a,are similar to the election of a public official in a democratic system,we should not conclude that democracy is a part of islam.

Following is a summary of both systems:

THE DEMOCRATIC SYSTEM
1. Its bases are made by humans
2. The ruling system is in the form of republics(indonesia,pakistan,egypt),or kingship(saudi arabia,jordan).And it allows any structure of government acceptable to people
3. Democracy is established on two premises;
    I.  Supremacy is for the people
    II. The legislative Branch
    III. The judicial Branch
Other institutions support these authorities,such as,the army,internal security,etc.
4. Since supremacy is for the people,they have the power to legislate
5. The judiciary system is a civil one
6. In the democratic system,the foreign policy is based upon honoring the international borders and waters because they are a manifestation of respect to people's freedom in choosing their systems,laws,and rulers
7. The democratic systems stands for disunity and for the existance of several states.This is called respecting the independence of these states
8. Not only that the democratic system recognizes nationalities and races,but they also encourage them to exist and to protect them
9. The ruler is elected for a specific period of time(four to six years)
10. In democracy,it is permissible to revolt,demonstrate against the ruler
11. It is allowed to form opposition parties that are not based on islam,such as,secular,and nationalist ones
12. Under democracy,political frame is divided into a ruling party and an opposition
13. Democracy allows all members of society to compete for the ruling position.This is regardless of his credentials of personal qualities,or religious commitments
14. Democracy is not consultation.Democracy is a method of ruling that contains major guidelines and details.It does not emanate from shari'a.Thus,it is not a divine law as shura
15. Democracy emphasizes 'compromise' solution
16. Democracy is established on the belief of capitalism i.e.separation of religion and state
17. The democratic way of life emanates from a civilization established on benefit and neglects other values
18. In democracy,majority rules
19. Democracy sanctifies liberties.Individual's freedom determines what a society should be

THE RULING SYSTEM IN ISLAM
1. Its basis is taken from revelation from Allah
2. The ruling system is that of khilafah.This system has no succession by inheritance.and it does not allow switching from al khilafah to repulicanism or kingship
3. In islam,the supremacy is for the shari'a and not for the people.The ummah appoints somebody to implement and rule by the shari'a.As for the structure of the ruling system in islam,it is as follows:
   I. The khalifah
   II.The associates(Mu'awen ul tafweed)
   III.The associates who carries our orders
   IV.The ameer of jihad
   V. Governors
   VI.Judges
   VII.The administrative system
   VIII.Majlis shura
   IX.The army
4. The revelation is the source of laws,and the people elect the person to implement the shari'a
5. The judiciary system in islam is a shari'a one(only)
6. Under the islamic ruling system,the foreign policy is tied with jihad,conquest,and spread of islam.It destroys borders and physical barriers to save humanity from worshipping each other to worshipping the Lord of humanity
7. The system of khilafah does not recognize the physical borders of the independence of the one muslim country from another.Since the ummah is one,the state is one,the army is one,the raya is one,the budget is one,etc
8. The islamic ruling system does away with all nationalities,tribalistics bonds,and races and melts them into islam
9. The khalifah is chosen for life as long as he is able,wise(aqil),and not known for misconduct.
10. The only case where it is alowed to disobey the ruler is when he orders to disobey Allah SWT
11. It is not allowed to form parties which are not based on islam as a doctrine and a way of life
12. Society is not divided in such a manner.However,the people of the ummah council question their ruler.If he deserves to be removed,the court of injustices (mahkamutul mathalim) takes that decision

The Best ShOeS in the WorLd!

Didn’t G.W. Bush say that the Americans would be greeted in the streets of Baghdad with flowers and roses?
Seven years later G.W. Bush himself is greeted with a pair of shoes!
Yesterday while Bush was speaking at the office of the Iraqi prime minister in Baghdad, an Iraqi journalist threw a shoe at the President, who ducked it, only to have the second shoe thrown at him, and again he ducked it. The President has been showing off his skills of ducking since 9-11. The man said: “This is the farewell kiss you dog!” and then he said: ““This is from the widows, the orphans and those who were killed in Iraq.”
Both, the throwing of the shoe and calling him a dog are ultimate forms of humiliation and disrespect in the Arab world. This, alHamdulillah, is proper greeting for this invader of Muslim land. But the even more proper treatment is that which is leveled against the invading troops on the streets of Baghdad.
The shoes of this journalist are better than those leaders in the Arab world who paraded their daughters to dance for Bush.
Before the Green Zone Scholars, and RAND Muslims, the promoters of the fiqh of humiliation, step up to the stage in defense of Bush and claim that this act is ‘against the Sunnah!’ let it be known that the Muslim is kind with the disbeliever who is decent and pays due respect to Islamic authority, but the Muslim is harsh against the arrogant and the transgressor. The words of Rasulullah to the leaders of Quraish were: “I came to with slaughter,” Abu Bakr cursed the disbelievers in Hudaybiyyah, and Omar would consistently beat these disbelievers, curse them and threaten them. On another note, and as ridiculous as it may sound, for those who say that al Maliki is “wali amr” and as Muslims we should not revolt against him, is this journalist at sin for not having sought the permission of al Maliki to throw his shoes? Because to them, this is definitely an act of fitnah!
Unfortunately he missed. As someone on the net has rightfully stated:
“Nobody wants to see President Bush being missed by a flying shoe like this. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity that has been missed here.”
In the End, if anyone of you gets to know the brand of shoes this journalist was wearing please inform us about it. We would all like to go out and buy some, in solidarity with our brother!

MuSdah MuLia: Rajin SeRaNg IsLam, RaiH YaP ThiaM HiEn AwaRd 2008

Yayasan Pusat Studi Hak Asasi Manusia menganugerahkan penghargaan Yap Thiam Hien 2008 kepada Musdah Mulia. Dosen UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta ini dinilai gigih dalam memperjuangkan hak asasi manusia (HAM).

“Siti Musdah Mulia adalah tokoh perempuan yang cerdas, berani dan gigih memperjuangkan pluralisme, hak-hak perempuan dalam Islam, civil liberties dan kesetaraan hak-hak konstitusional setiap warga negara dalam demokrasi Indonesia,” kata Wakil Yap Thiam Hien Award sekaligus juri, Todung Mulya Lubis, di Jakarta, Kamis (4/12).

Selain pernah menawarkan gagasan baru di dalam Kompilasi Hukum Islam (KHI) dengan pendekatan jender, hak asasi manusia, dan demokrasi, Musdah diangap giat mengadvokasi kelompok minoritas, seperti Ahmadiyah, dan kelompok gay dan lesbian.

Dewan Juri, lanjut Todung memuji pemikiran-pemikiran Siti yang menjembatani kondisi kekinian. “Misalnya soal Undang-undang pornografi, Siti menolak peraturan tersebut karena maraknya kekerasan mengatasnamakan agama dan keyakinan tertentu, premanisme berkedok agama seakan mendapatkan justifikasi dari undang-undang ini,” ujarnya. “Bahkan dia berjuang jauh sebelum undang-undang itu disahkan”.

Yap Thiam Hien Award merupakan anugerah yang diberikan bagi tokoh atau institusi yang gigih memperjuangkan hak asasi manusia. Gagasan ini dirintis pada tahun 1992 oleh sejumlah tokoh, seperti Jakob Oetama, Goenawan Mohammad, Dhaniel Dhakidae, serta pengacara Todung Mulya Lubis. Penghargaan ini diambil dari nama seorang pejuang HAM, Yap Thiam Hien. Tokoh-tokoh HAM ini adalah mereka yang sekarang dikenal sebagai anggota Aliansi Kebangsaan untuk Kebebasan Beragama dan Berkeyakinan (AKKBB).

Sebelum tahun 2005, para pemenang penghargaan ini memperoleh uang dalam jumlah besar. Pernah nilainya mencapai 125 ribu dolar AS (kini Rp 1,375 milyar, kurs 1 US$=Rp 11.000). Yayasan mengakui uang ini bantuan dari donator, tapi tidak disebutkan darimana dana itu. Hanya saja beredar kabar uang itu dari dana asing.

Bukan hanya kali ini Musdah memperoleh penghargaan. Pada Hari Perempuan Dunia 8 Maret 2007, Musdah Mulia menerima penghargaan International Women of Courage dari Menteri Luar Negeri Condoleezza Rice di Washington. Ia dianggap wanita Asia ”pemberani”. Saat itu pun dia mengaku siap dikatakan sebagai ‘antek Amerika’.

Selama ini sepak terjang Musdah nyata sekali ingin menyerang dan berusaha menghancurkan akidah umat Islam. Dia mengajukan gagasan baru yang bersumber dari paham sekuler-liberal. Dan untuk aktivitasnya tersebut, Musdah mendapat dukungan dana dari Amerika. Misalnya saja ketika menyusun draft Counter Legal Draft Kompilasi Hukum Islam (CLD-KHI) pada 2004, dia dibantu Rp 6 milyar dari The Asia Foundation, yayasan dari Amerika yang mendukung liberalisme.

Kendati banyak ditentang oleh para ulama, rupanya Musdah tidak peduli. Dia terus saja menyebarkan virus akidah ke tengah-tengah umat Islam. Beberapa virus yang disebarkan itu antara lain:

• Pernikahan bukan ibadah, perempuan boleh menikahkan dirinya sendiri, poligami haram, boleh nikah beda agama, boleh kawin kontrak, ijab kabul bukan rukun nikah, dan anak kecil bebas memilih agamanya sendiri (Drat CLD-KHI).
• Semua laki-laki dan perempuan sama, tak peduli etnis, kekayaan, posisi-posisi sosial, bahkan orientasi seksualnya. “Tidak ada perbedaan antara lesbian dan tidak lesbian. Dalam pandangan Allah, orang-orang dihargai didasarkan pada keimanan mereka,” katanya.
• Ia bersama kalangan liberal menulis Fiqih Lintas Agama. Isinya banyak membuang makna teks Alquran dan menggunakan konteks kekinian secara amburadul berdasarkan pandangan-pandangan Barat.

Orang-orang seperti Musdah Mulia ini akan terus mendapat dukungan dari musuh-musuh Islam. Mereka akan senantiasa dibantu untuk melakukan aktivitasnya melemahkan umat Islam. Alih-alih membela Islam yang sebenarnya minoritas di dunia, mereka justru membela dan memuja Barat yang justru menjajah negeri-negeri Islam.
